Comparing MSN Groups, MSN Spaces with Office Live
The grid provides a side by side view of the items of interest to most average (non-business) users and presumes a little familiarity with Groups or Spaces or both. Groups is designed around a few common elements including an online chatroom, message board, albums and the capacity to make up to 299 Custom pages, including Lists and a Documents folder for sharing files. Spaces is more of a blog tool with modules including the capacity to create Lists, Albums with a slideshow feature built in, and to set Categories for your blogging. It come equipped with RSS feed, a profile which is linked with Groups and MSN Messenger.

Documents also are restricted by filetype for security reasons. The filesize limit is per upload, presently the Office Document uploads need to be added a single document at a time to a list of files to upload, which is a step back from the Groups upload tool or the one used for images (this may be a temporary thing as the beta is developing.) Filetypes not allowed: Because of security issues, Microsoft Office Live servers will not allow you to upload the following document types: .ade, .adp, .bas, .bat, .chm, .cmd, .com, .cpl, .crt, .exe, .hlp, .hta, .inf, .ins, .isp, .js, .jse, .lnk, .mdb, .mde, .msc, .msi, .msp, .mst, .pcd, .pif, .reg, .scr, .sct, .shb, .shs, .url, .vb, .vbe, .vbs, .wsc, .wsf, .wsh. Signing up for a Live Office space brings with a free Domain Name! Domain Names usually cost a setup fee (often waived) and an annual rental/renewal charge. It may be too early to tell if the renewal charges will be waived forever.
